Complete Origami has over 100 interesting facts and step-by-step instructions for folding just about everything: paper, tissues, cloth, money, and leaves.
The author, Eric Kenneway, takes the reader's interest in origami and crafting to new and inspiring heights. For example, Kenneway shows how to make paper items that are perfect for home use. The paper box, dish, and cup would be great for parties. Envelope folding adds a personal touch to letters for loved ones. The fans and pleated paper lampshades are beautiful for home decoration. Finally, the decorative paper picture frames are perfect for mantels, as well as gifts.
For children, there are easy to make action models and toys. The models include coiled spring, flapping bird, magic tipper, and jumping frogs. The paper toys are hats, kites, mobiles, talking fox, cootie catcher, and my personal favorite, the fortune teller.
Kenneway also shows how to fold money rings, cloth nappies, cloth napkins, handkerchiefs, and even a loincloth!
There is so much to do in Complete Origami (ISBN: 0312008988). Kenneway has kept myself and my children busy for hours at a time with the origami projects. I've also been able to adapt the facts and folding instructions to my homeschooling curriculum for everything from math to history to social studies. This is an excellent resource for all families.
