A Blue Bananas tale of fun and mishaps above and below the water, as Big Dog tries out his latest invention - a brand new sail boat.
Big Dog was a very clever dog. For example, last Tuesday Big Dog built a lovely shiny red boat. He thought of everything a boat might need – a sail when there’s lots of wind, and a motor for when there isn’t. A lever to make the boat go fast or slow, and a wheel for steering A cabin with a little kitchen for cooking, and bunk beds for sleeping. Three portholes for looking out of, a telescope to see through, and, most importantly, two life jackets. One for Big Dog, and one for his friend Little Dog. Saturday Is The Best Day For Having AdventuresBig Dog was really excited about trying out his new boat. He woke Little Dog very early Saturday morning so they could spend the whole day exploring. So they packed a picnic lunch, fishing gear, snorkelling things, towels, sun cream and of course Big Dog’s water skis. They pulled out of the harbour and steered carefully around the other boats, and out to sea. Look Out For The Sea Monster!Little Dog decided he wanted to do some fishing, so Big Dog dropped the anchor in a nice quiet cove. They put some bait on their hooks, plopped the lines in the water, and waited. Soon Big Dog felt something tugging very hard on his line. It tugged so much Little Dog had to help him pull it up. Big Dog got a terrible fright – up came a big horrible monster with spikes all over! Luckily it was only a catfish. After that Big Dog didn’t want to do any more fishing. He wanted to have some fun water skiing. Then it was time for some snorkelling. Little Dog counted all the fish as they swam by. Big Dog collected lots of pretty shells. All that swimming made them really hungry so they stopped for some lunch. Gradually big black clouds began to gather in the sky, and it got really windy. Just as Big Dog was making some hot chocolate to warm them up, they felt a huge bump! The boat had run into a big island. Whoever Heard Of A Talking Island? Dropping the anchor and grabbing their telescope, Big Dog and Little Dog jumped off the boat to explore the island. It was very hard to walk because the ground was rather slippery and shiny. When they got to the top of the island they took turns looking through the telescope. All of a sudden big rain drops began to splatter around them. But how could it be raining when there were no clouds in the sky? Then the island began to wobble, and Big Dog and Little Dog tumbled all the way back down to their boat. A big black eye appeared at the porthole and a deep voice called out “Hello, anyone at home?”. It wasn’t an island at all, it was a big blue whale. He was covered in bumps and bruises because he was always falling asleep and running into things. So Little Dog suggested he take their anchor, so he wouldn’t drift around while he was asleep. The whale loved the idea so much he gave Big Dog and Little Dog a ride all the way home on his back. Good thing Little Dog brought her umbrella!
