When I reviewed the jeans craft book Injeanuity by Ellen Warwick, I also showed readers how to knit an easy belt to dress up their jeans. Now I’m going to show you how to quickly crochet a belt.
This crochet belt is a beginners project. It works up quickly, uses very little yarn, and the belts make great gifts. The belts are also versatile: they can be worn around the neck like a necktie or a scarf. Make the belts short for a neat, preppy look, or make them long for the disco pirate look. Arr!
Materials:
Leftover worsted weight yarn
Leftover novelty eyelash yarn
Crochet hook (I used size G-6 US (4-1/2mm))
Gauge is unimportant. You will crochet the belt to the desired length.
Chain 7
Row 1: dc in 4 th ch from hook and in each ch across; ch 3; turn.
Row 2: dc across; ch 3; turn.
Continue row 2 until the belt reaches desired length. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
With eyelash yarn, sc around entire belt. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
These belts work up quicker than the knit belts. An entire colored set can be made in an evening (and you’ll be able to clear up a lot of odds and ends from your leftover yarn stash).
