Dragon Tail Chase is an exciting outdoor game that kids will love to play.

With all the great children’s dragon books out on the market, such as How to Cheat a Dragon’s Curse by Cressida Cowell and A Time of Golden Dragons by Song Nan Zhang and Hao Yu Zhang, kids are really into anything that has to do with the fire-breathing terrors. The dragon tail chase activity is a fun outdoor game that let’s children use their imagination and gets them up and moving.

Number of Kids

You will need at least six kids to make this game exciting. Larger groups of children can be divided into groups of ten or fifteen.

How to Play

Have the children stand in a line with their hands on the shoulders of the person in front of them. The first person in the line is the head of the dragon. The last person in line is the tail.

The object of the game is for the dragon’s head to catch the dragon tail. To do this, hands must remain on shoulders so that the dragon does not break. The dragon’s head child must lead the children behind him to try and catch the tail, while the dragon’s tail child must guide the tail end kids away from the dragon’s head. As the children do this, the line will twist and turn, like a dragon’s body.

When the dragon’s head finally tags the tail child, the child who played the head gets to sit out of the game and take a break. The tail child becomes the dragon’s head and the fun starts all over. The game ends when there are only two children left in the dragon.
