Earth Day Essay Questions

For Children Grades 4 and Up

What will you have your students do for Earth Day? Why not get them thinking about the environment by having them answer one of these essay questions.


Here are some possible essay questions for elementary children, grades 4 and up, to answer:

1. What would Earth be like if all the trees were cut down? Explain how this would affect your daily life, and how it would affect the birds and animals.

2. Name three things people can do to help protect the environment. Explain each of your choices.

3. What does it mean to reuse an item and how does reusing things help protect the environment?

4. Explain what recycling is and list items that can be recycled.

5. Name and explain four ways that newspaper can be reused.

6. Explain what composting is and why it is good for the environment.

7. Who is the founder of Earth Day and why was Earth Day started?
