Knit belts are a quick and inexpensive way to add personality to your jeans.

After reviewing Ellen Warwick's Injeanuity

, I began to think of all the ways I've added personality to my jeans, and one of my favorite jean accessories is the easy to knit belt.

All you need are knitting needles and some leftover yarn. Cast on anywhere from 5 to 7 stitches, depending on how wide you want your belt. Knit every row until you have the desired length. Bind off and add fringe.

Some variations of this project include alternating different colored yarns to make a funky striped belt, use leftover designer yarns for the fringe, or make yarn tassels to the ends instead of fringes.

These belts also make great gifts. I usually knit up a few dozen out of leftover yarns and have all the kids in my family pick out their favorite ones.
