Children love Hollywood pirates and the writers at Suite 101 have a plethora of articles about pirates for parents and educators.

I’m thirty-something and, I must admit, I still love Hollywood pirates. Ever since I was little, I’d thrill at the prospect of watching a pirate movie on the television. Now, all I have to do is grab a dvd of a pirate movie, plunk it in the player, and ask my kids to watch it with me (they’re my cover story in case anyone shows up at the front door).

On Suite 101, there are a number of great activities and ideas involving the renewed pirate trend.

Is there a birthday coming up? Why not throw a pirate party? Janice Benoit has written an article on how to serve up a Kids Pirate Birthday Party.

We all know that pirates were great at math because they were always counting those gold coins. Now you can have your child count the coins in the pirate’s chest. Belinda Mooney has a Pirate Math Mat that you can print off and use.

Christine Alcott has pirate related homeschool lesson plans online: Pirate Skills, Pirate Treasure, and Pirate Fighting.
