Great online resources for educators and homeschoolers!

The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago’s Prepare a Mummy for Burial is a great online activity that takes children through the process of mummification. My son loved this activity, especially when he had to stir and remove the brains.

National Geographic Kids has a section called Mummies Unmasked that teaches how mummies were made.

You can also read the excellent book You Wouldn’t Want to Be an Egyptian Mummy online.

For children who want to actually make a mummy, the Royal Ontario Museum has the instructions you’re looking for: Make Your Own Mummy!

Finally, the British Museum has an online tour on Animal Mummies.
